Heffernan reckons there could be a Ballet at the Derby

Seamie Heffernan won the first two races on today’s Leopardstown card and following the victory of BOLSHOI BALLET (EVS FAV) the rider suggested that the four length winner could well be a candidate for a spin around Tattenham Corner in 2021.

It’s not unusual for Aidan O’Brien to unleash precocious colts towards the back end of the Flat season and this son of wonder-sire Galileo certainly fitted that bill, showing a taking kick when Heffernan sent him about his business, as he saw off Jessica Harrington’s O’reilly (sure to come on for the experience).

Regarding Bolshoi Ballet, it’s probably signpost enough as to where he sits in the Ballydoyle rankings that he went straight to Newmarket for his racecourse bow where he ran with considerable aplomb Ante post betting is dodgy business at the best of times, never mind in the current world climate, however, the initial chalk up of 33/1 for the Derby may end up looking very generous.
